Password Best Practices

A strong password is your first line of defense.

Creating a Strong Password

Requirements

ClapPay requires:

  • Minimum 12 characters
  • Mix of uppercase and lowercase
  • At least one number
  • At least one special character

Tips for Strong Passwords

Good practices:

  • Use a passphrase (e.g., "Coffee-Mountain-2024!")
  • Combine random words
  • Add numbers and symbols throughout

Avoid:

  • Personal info (birthdays, names)
  • Common words ("password", "qwerty")
  • Sequential numbers (12345)
  • Reusing passwords from other sites

Password Examples

Using a Password Manager

We strongly recommend password managers:

  • Generate strong passwords
  • Store them securely
  • Auto-fill login forms
  • Sync across devices

Popular options:

  • 1Password
  • LastPass
  • Bitwarden
  • Apple Keychain

Changing Your Password

  1. Go to SettingsSecurity
  2. Click Change Password
  3. Enter current password
  4. Enter new password (twice)
  5. Save

When to Change Your Password

Change immediately if:

  • You suspect it's compromised
  • You shared it by mistake
  • You used it on a suspicious site
  • ClapPay notifies you of a breach

Password + 2FA

A password alone isn't enough. Enable two-factor authentication for maximum security.
