Deleting Your Account

Want to permanently close your ClapPay account? Here's what you need to know.

Before You Delete

Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Before proceeding:

1. Withdraw Your Balance

Transfer all money to your bank account. You cannot delete an account with a remaining balance.

2. Download Your Data

Get a copy of your transaction history and receipts:

  1. Go to Settings → Data & Privacy
  2. Click Download My Data
  3. Wait for the export (up to 24 hours)
  4. Download the file

3. Cancel Active Subscriptions

If you have recurring payments or subscriptions, cancel them first.

4. Resolve Pending Transactions

Wait for any pending transfers or payments to complete.

How to Delete Your Account

Step 1: Go to Settings

Click your profile picture → SettingsAccount.

Step 2: Click Delete Account

Scroll to the bottom and click Delete Account.

Step 3: Verify Your Identity

Enter your password and complete 2FA (if enabled).

Step 4: Confirm Deletion

Read the warning carefully and type "DELETE" to confirm.

Step 5: Final Confirmation

Click Permanently Delete Account.

What Gets Deleted

  • Your profile and personal information
  • Transaction history
  • Linked bank accounts and cards
  • Saved recipients
  • App data and preferences

What We Keep (Legal Requirements)

By law, we must retain some records for 5-7 years:

  • Transaction records (for tax and anti-money laundering compliance)
  • Identity verification documents
  • Communication records related to disputes

This data is stored securely and only used for legal/regulatory purposes.

After Deletion

  • You'll be logged out immediately
  • Your email can be used for a new account after 30 days
  • You'll receive a confirmation email
  • Deletion is processed within 30 days

If you just need a break, consider deactivating instead. You can come back anytime.
