How to Verify Your Identity
Complete identity verification to unlock all ClapPay features. It takes about 5 minutes.
What You'll Need
- A valid government-issued ID (passport, driver's license, or national ID)
- A smartphone or computer with a camera
- Good lighting
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Start Verification
You can start verification from:
- The banner on your dashboard
- Settings → Verification
- When prompted during a transaction
Click Start Verification to begin.
Step 2: Select Your ID Type
Choose from:
- Passport - Works for all countries
- Driver's License - Country-specific
- National ID Card - Country-specific
Select the document you have available.
Step 3: Take Photos of Your ID
For passports:
- Photograph the page with your photo and details
For driver's licenses and ID cards:
- Photograph the front
- Photograph the back
Photo tips:
- Use good lighting (natural light works best)
- Place the ID on a dark, flat surface
- Capture the entire document
- Make sure text is readable
- Avoid glare and shadows
Step 4: Take a Selfie
We'll ask you to take a selfie to match against your ID photo:
- Position your face in the circle
- Follow the on-screen instructions
- You may be asked to move your head or blink
- Hold still when the photo is taken
Selfie tips:
- Remove glasses, hats, or face coverings
- Make sure your whole face is visible
- Use good, even lighting
- Look directly at the camera
Step 5: Enter Your Details
Confirm or enter:
- Full legal name (as shown on your ID)
- Date of birth
- Address
Step 6: Submit and Wait
Click Submit to send your verification. You'll see a confirmation screen.
Processing time:
- Most verifications complete in minutes
- Some may take 1-2 business days for manual review
- You'll receive an email when complete
Checking Your Status
View your verification status:
- Go to Settings → Verification
- See your current status and next steps

Verification Failed?
If your verification doesn't pass:
- Check that your ID isn't expired
- Make sure photos are clear and complete
- Ensure your selfie matches your ID photo
- Try again with better lighting or a different ID
