Account Types Explained
ClapPay offers two account types: Personal and Business. Choose the one that fits your needs.
Personal Account
Best for: Individuals managing personal finances
A Personal Account lets you:
- Send and receive money from friends and family
- Pay bills and make purchases
- Hold multiple currencies
- Get virtual and physical cards
- Access savings and investment features
- Send international transfers
Personal Account Limits

Business Account
Best for: Freelancers, entrepreneurs, and businesses
A Business Account includes everything in Personal, plus:
- Accept payments from customers
- Create and send invoices
- Set up recurring billing and subscriptions
- Multiple team members with different permissions
- Business analytics and reports
- Mass payouts to vendors or employees
- ClapPay Connect for marketplaces
- API access for integration
Business Account Limits

Choosing the Right Account
Choose Personal if you:
- Only need to send money to friends and family
- Want to manage personal expenses
- Don't need to accept business payments
- Are an individual, not a company
Choose Business if you:
- Sell products or services
- Need to accept payments from customers
- Want to send invoices
- Run a freelance business or company
- Need multiple team members on the account
Switching Account Types
Upgrading from Personal to Business
You can upgrade anytime:
- Go to Settings → Account
- Click Upgrade to Business
- Complete business verification
- Your account will be upgraded within 1-2 business days
Downgrading from Business to Personal
Contact support to downgrade. Note that you'll lose access to business features, but your balance and transaction history are preserved.
Account Fees
- Personal Account: Free to create and use
- Business Account: Free to create; standard transaction fees apply
