Currency Conversion Fees
Understand costs when converting currencies.
How Currency Conversion Works
When you convert currencies, you pay:
- Exchange rate - The rate we quote
- FX margin - Our fee built into the rate
FX Margin
Our margin above the mid-market rate:
| Situation | Margin |
|-----------|--------|
| Weekday conversion | 0.5% |
| Weekend conversion | 1.0% |
| Card transactions | 2.0% |
| Pro/Enterprise plan | 0.3% |
Understanding the Rate
Mid-Market Rate
The "real" exchange rate you see on Google. We show you this rate for transparency.
Our Rate
Mid-market rate + our margin.
Example
EUR to USD conversion of €1,000:
| Rate | Value |
|------|-------|
| Mid-market rate | 1 EUR = 1.0850 USD |
| Our margin (0.5%) | 0.0054 |
| Rate you get | 1 EUR = 1.0796 USD |
| You receive | $1,079.60 |
| Cost of conversion | ~$5.40 |
