Common Reasons for Being Locked Out

- Lost your 2FA device or codes

Recovery Options
Option 1: Reset Your Password
If you remember your email and have access to it:
- Go to clappay.com/login
- Click Forgot password?
- Follow the reset instructions
Option 2: Use 2FA Recovery Codes
If you have 2FA enabled and lost your device:
- On the 2FA screen, click Use recovery code
- Enter one of your 8-character recovery codes
- You'll be logged in
- Set up a new 2FA device immediately
Option 3: Contact Support
If you can't use the above options:
- Email support@clappay.com with subject "Account Recovery"
- Include:
- The email address on your account
- Your full legal name
- The last 4 digits of a linked card or bank account
- Approximate date you created your account
- Our team will respond within 24-48 hours
- You'll need to verify your identity
Identity Verification for Recovery
To protect your account, we may ask for:
- A photo of your government-issued ID
- A selfie holding your ID
- Answers to security questions about your account
- Verification of recent transactions
Account Temporarily Locked
If your account was locked due to suspicious activity:
- You'll receive an email explaining why
- Follow the instructions in the email to unlock
- You may need to verify your identity
- Contact support if you didn't receive an email
Prevention Tips
To avoid getting locked out in the future:
- Save your 2FA recovery codes in a safe place
- Keep your email address up to date
- Use a password manager
- Add a backup phone number
