3D Secure Verification

3D Secure adds an extra layer of security when you shop online.

What Is 3D Secure?

3D Secure (also called Verified by Visa or Mastercard SecureCode) is an authentication step for online purchases.

When you buy something online:

  1. You enter your card details
  2. A verification request is sent to your phone
  3. You approve it in the ClapPay app
  4. The purchase completes

This proves it's really you making the purchase.

How It Works

Step 1: Enter Card Details

At online checkout, enter your ClapPay card details as normal.

Step 2: Get Notification

You'll receive a push notification on your phone.

Step 3: Open ClapPay

Tap the notification or open the ClapPay app.

Step 4: Review and Approve

You'll see:

  • Merchant name
  • Amount
  • Date/time

Tap Approve to confirm or Decline if you don't recognize it.

Step 5: Complete Purchase

Return to the website/app. Your purchase is complete.

Troubleshooting

Not receiving notifications?

  • Check push notifications are enabled for ClapPay
  • Ensure your phone number is up to date
  • Check your internet connection
  • Try opening the app manually

Verification timing out?

  • Respond within 5 minutes
  • If it times out, the payment may fail
  • Try the purchase again

Can't approve?

  • Make sure you're logged into ClapPay
  • Update to the latest app version
  • Contact support if issues persist

When 3D Secure Is Required

Not all purchases trigger 3D Secure. It depends on:

  • The merchant's settings
  • Purchase amount
  • Risk assessment
  • Your bank's requirements

Higher-value or unusual purchases are more likely to require verification.
